Meet Joanne Smith.
I’ve always been physically active and have a background in dance. When I joined the workforce after college, I was at a desk and in a car for the majority of my day. I also was a caregiver for ailing family members at a very young age. For the first time in my life I had to find time to exercise and find balance in my own physical health so that I could be at an optimal level to handle my professional and personal responsibilities. It’s the same challenge I hear from almost everyone that I meet….How to find time to keep in shape, stay healthy, and do everything else!? I found pilates as a client, through my long time friend and future business partner- Amy. In a very short time, I was incredibly motivated by the benefits that I felt! I wanted to learn more. So, I started training to be an instructor.
I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but I knew that it would be beneficial to me in some manner. I then started to teach some of the basic fundamentals to those that I was caregiving and saw how a simple increase in their knowledge of movement and breathing could vastly improve their physical well-being and state of mind. At that time, I knew that I wanted to make this type of fitness and movement a part of my life in a permanent way so that I could share it with others. However, I never thought that it would lead me to a full time career in fitness and a business owner. In 2000, I started my journey and from there Studio 7 emerged. I have been blessed to learn, explore, teach, and guide others in movement and fitness disciplines that allow them to be stronger, more educated about their health, and build a better physical body for themselves. Come see how we can help you feel your best, too!
